| August AstroAlert
Hi Friends and Family,
Still visiting family here in beautiful Anacortes, Washington but did not want to let the month go by without contacting you in regards to probably the best month this year for sky watching!!
Aug 12 and 13 - Meteor showers will be flashing in the northeast part of the sky....this debris from the comet, Swift-Tuttle, is making its 130 year orbit around the Sun. Look for fireballs after midnight that will continue until dawn!
Aug 18 - 24 - Mars will be visiting the constellation Taurus....this constellation contains the red star Aldebaran which forms an eye. Mars will enter the constellation forming another red eye giving this sign of Taurus, the bull, fiery eyes. Best time to view is between 4 -5 AM.
Don't be surprised if here on Earth you feel yourself becoming passionate about money, food and sex!
Aug 28 - A total lunar eclipse.....when the Moon passes through the Earths shadow.....if you live on the West Coast you will be able to see the entire eclipse peaking at 3:35AM. For a clue as to how this eclipse will influence you, look back to the past. Where were you 19 years ago? August 27, 1988 to be exact. What was important then and what calls you now? The planet line-up includes the Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces. This Virgo Sun illuminates the sorting of the wheat from the chaff symbolizing what we no longer need. The Piscean Moon asks us to surrender to the mysteries of life. What is your body, soul and spirit seeking?
Mercury, planet of communication, will be hitching a ride while casting insights to your thinking outside the box!
Jupiter, planet of good fortune, always expanding and not one to be left behind, jumps in through the first week of September and encourages you to jump too.... sort of a "just do it" energy!!
Mars, planet of passion, and Uranus, planet of surprise happenings, join in for the fun too. What a line-up of excitement and changes ahead!!
For those that have been experiencing a Saturn return, Saturn makes his final sweep and moves on September 2. No doubt you have been pushed, pulled and thrown about the past two and a half years....most of you have stayed on course through this rough sea, facing challenges only you know about.....but now the end is near and life will take on a delicious flavor. You certainly deserve it!!
Peridot, called the "Gem of the Sun" by the ancients is the traditional Gem for August. Originally found in Egypt, it's main sources are Pakistan, China, Arizona and New Mexico. Gem peridot too small to use in jewelry can be found all over the world. Most peridot come from small basaltic volcanoes and lava flows. The green sand beaches of the Hawaiian Islands are fun examples of tiny gem volcanic peridot. Color ranges from medium to light yellowish-green, peridots can come close to being pure and vivid green. The more saturated and pure the green, the more desirable.
Metaphysically, Peridot is used to cleanse and to stimulate the heart and solar plexus chakras, bringing openness and acceptance in the intellectual pursuit of matters of love and relationships!
Enjoy the August sky,
Susan
