Astro Update for March

Hi Family and Friends,

March starts out with a total Lunar eclipse.......when the Moon passes through the Earths shadow.....on March 3. A Lunar eclipse stirs up what you may have pushed to the back of your mind and encourages you to act.....especially if you need to end something. In comparison, the New Moon ( March 18) supports the beginning of something new. This is a Full Moon eclipse with the Moon in the sign of Virgo. When the Moon is in Virgo we are focused on intellectual activity, health and sustenance. You may also find yourself working more, with little to show for your efforts. Usually a Full Moon increases our emotions, energy and sensitivity. With Uranus (planet of Freedom) in close proximity you may feel 'wired' . If so, this is a great weekend to listen to your body and give yourself extra rest and nutritional support. Meditating, walks on the beach or in the woods would be especially beneficial.

March 18, we will be visited by a partial Solar eclispe, when the Moon passes in front of the Sun. A Solar eclipse interrupts old patterns and encourages a new way of doing things.

As mentioned above, this is also a New Moon. If you are in need of starting a project or possibly beginning a new relationship this is the perfect time!! This New Moon is in the sign of Pisces and it is possible you may be drawn toward a spiritual awakening!

March 20, the Vernal Equinox ( when the Sun crosses directly over the Earths equator).
As the Sun is reborn in Aries, a fiery and independent sign, it races across the sky, and here the days become longer, the air is warmer and once again growth sprouts up from the Earth! This energy of Aries will get you started but you will need to stay focused as Aries is better at starting things than finishing them.

The Vernal Equinox is a time of renewal, both in nature and in the home. More than just physical activity, "spring cleaning" removes any negative energy accumulated over the dark winter months and prepares you and your home for the positive growing energy of spring and summer!


Aquamarine, Latin for "water of the sea" is the traditional gemstone for March. Accordingly to legend this seawater gem will protect sailors on their journeys. These old sailors believed that the watery gem came from the treasure chests of mermaids! Aquamarine is mined on almost every continent, but the most prolific mines historically have been found in Brazil and ,most recently, in African nations such as Nigeria and Mozanbique. Ideal color can vacillate from greenish-blue to bluish-green or anything inbetween. Aqua is considered good for everyday wear but can scratch, so clean with a soft toothbrush and a solution of mild dish soap and warm water.
