Gemstones and crystals have been prized since the beginning of time for their colorful adornment as well as for their mystery and seemingly magical properties. History has provided us with numerous stories of love, betrayal and bravery…all based on gemstones!

Sometime in our modern history, a marketing campaign came up with a way to market gemstones….assign a gemstone to every month. Some versions of this information state that there are different stones for different months, depending on the traditional or modern version of “birthstones”.

Working in the gemstone industry, in an upscale jewelry salon, I found clients confused about this information. There appeared to be great disappointment when they found that they had a Opal birthstone when they really wanted a Sapphire.

Some clients would not be aware of which gemstone they desired but would be riveted to a certain gemstone….with comments like “it just feels so right” or “I love this gemstone, something about it”. When showing clients different gemstones there would always be something very special about the one they chose, something they would try to convey either by mentioning the color, the shape or just the “feel”. Repeat clients would usually have a story to tell about their special gemstone and how they had given it or received it as a gift. The energy would always come through. This energy of gemstones seems to resonate within our consciousness.

Over time when working with an astrology clients birthchart the energy of the appropriately current gemstone became apparent. When presenting this information to the astrology client I was met with confirmation that this is just what the client needed….for example the client that said she had just painted a kitchen wall purple the day before her astrology consultation when it was suggested that Amethyst would be a beneficial gemstone!

Depending on where you are in your life journey indicates which gemstone is best for you, at that time. Since your focus changes throughout life, the beneficial gemstones will change as well. For example if the birthchart shows your self-esteem is at a low than wearing a pink quartz crystal can promote increased self-confidence. During an extremely stressful time in a massage therapist’s life, placing a clear, quartz crystal in her massage room was helpful in removing any negativities brought in by some of her clients.
